Janette has a love for music which is infectious to those around her and is passionate about encouraging children and adults to enjoy playing piano and singing.
Mrs Janette Kircher is a Graduate of the Qld Conservatorium of Music where she did a Bachelor of Musical Arts majoring in Classical Voice and Piano. After she graduated she undertook advanced studies in Theory, Vocal/Piano Pedagogy and Performance, with a sprinkling of Choral Conducting and Music Arranging. Growing up in Townsville in a musical family, she can’t remember a time when music wasn’t front and centre of her world, always playing the piano by reading music but also by ear and always singing in shows and around the house.
Janette has now clocked up 3 decades of teaching in her private studios and in many schools in Brisbane, fostering and inspiring the love of music for a lifetime to two generations of musicians. She is a highly sought after Accompanist for Eisteddfods, music exams and concerts and has been busy conducting community and school choirs and vocal ensembles for over 20 years. Janette was the Co-Founder of the Brisbane Musical Theatre Competition which ran for many years, boasting talented competitors and introducing future stars such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Glaston Toft (Jersey Boys fame) and Megan Washington (Aria winner).
In her spare time, Janette sings in various groups such as her acapella quartet and her family bush band with her daughter and her husband, often visiting Respite Centres and bringing joy to many in aged care. She enjoys writing songs and musicals and arranging for her ensembles and is hoping to record an album next year! She enjoys an occasional foray onto the stage floorboards performing roles in community and professional theatre. Her favourite experience was performing alongside the late great Jon English in 2004 in the Premier Show “Dads Army” at 12th Night Theatre, which also toured New Zealand.
Janette has a love for all music which is infectious to those around her and is passionate about encouraging children and adults alike to enjoy playing piano and singing for a lifetime! Her aim is to help them be the best musician they can be and help them find a confidence in themselves that only the joys of music and performing can bring!
